The empty kettle is very light and easily lifted from the pouring axis for filling. Alternatively you can fill with a small lightweight plastic jug taken to the kettle, rather than taking the kettle to the tap.

Fun Fact- If you place your cup on a saucer which is sitting against the "feet" of the kettle stand, and gently pour, the water will land in the middle of the cup every time! Great for low vision users.
